Pragmatic add Motor Condition Monitoring to product range
through agreement with world leader, Artesis.
An MCM is simply installed in a motor control centre or starter
panel and measures voltages and currents on each of the 3 phases. Using NASA-developed
technology originally deployed for monitoring Space Shuttle engines, the MCM starts
building a model of motor behaviour as soon as it is switched on. Providing
continuous monitoring, the MCM is self-learning and provides automatic
detection and warning of abnormal operation without user intervention.
Statistically based fault detection algorithms provide a high degree of
robustness, minimising false alarms. MCMs can be networked, interfaced to SCADA
systems and set-up for remote interrogation and diagnosis through the web.
MCMs can be applied to HV, MV and LV
motors in both DOL and Star-Delta configurations and both fixed and variable
speed drives.
- Critical equipment.
- Equipment which is inaccessible (e.g. submerged pumps).
- Equipment in a hazardous environment.
- Equipment on remote sites.
- Online monitoring applications where traditional methods are too expensive due to cable costs.
MCM
technology can detect:
- Poor power quality.
- Unbalanced phases.
- Broken / high resistance rotor bars.
- Abnormal operation.
- Mechanical problems on both the motor and driven equipment.
